March 5: Post Falls - Wine Stein and Dine At the Greyhound Park. The Post Falls Education Foundation (PFEF) will hold its annual Wine, Stein and Dine fundraiser. The event raises funds for grant awards to Post Falls School District educations. Those attending the event have an opportunity to taste and sample the very best foods, wines and beers that regional vendors have to offer. Since 1997 the PFEF has awarded over $300,000 to enhanced educational programs in classrooms throughout the district. Last year more than 100 district educators submitted grant applications to cover classroom supplies and materials for special educational projects. March 12-13: Schweitzer - College Daze The annual student weekend of crazy shananigans. Students with a current and valid college ID will enjoy discounted lift tickets, lodging deals, and food and drink specials. Discounts offered all around the mountain.

March 13: Schweitzer – Grom Stomp Grom, shortened from “Grommet,” is a young skier or snowboarder who totally rips. Schweitzer is calling all Groms! This is THE event for all the young rippers (ages 6-11) to prove their stuff on Slopestyle and Rider-X courses designed just for them. Competitors can register for one or both. At the end of the day we’ll have awards for the division winners and will announce the winners of the “Top Grom” skier and snowboarder at Schweitzer. March 18-20: Sandpoint - Stomp Games Presented by Smith Optics. This annual event hosted on Schweitzer Mountain has three events for 2011, spread out over three days. Skiers and snowboarders ages 12 and over are eligible to compete. Download the registration form here or register online.  Everyone must have a signed liability release at check in, download now. Remember, all competitors must have a release so if you are under 18, have your parents sign it before you arrive. Friday night March 18th is the Big Boot Stomp Session, featuring a single rail/jump feature with multiple options and a jam format. Saturday, March 19th is the always popular Slopestyle competition followed by the Smith Afterburner Party. Sunday, March 20th features the exciting racing action of Ridercross. March 26: Sandpoint - Alan McNall Benefit Dinner and Auction The Bonner County Fairgrounds hosts the Alan McNall Benefit Dinner and Auction with a silent auction at 4 p.m., a BBQ pork dinner at 5:30 p.m., and a live auction at 7pm. McNall is a third-generation rancher, and has been a 4-H livestock leader and Bonner County Fair beef barn superintendent. McNall was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment in Seattle. McNall has insurance, but expenses associated with his stay in Seattle along with further treatment costs continue to mount. McNall is humbled by the support he has already received, and the family invites those who wish to offer further support to the dinner and auction. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 ages 7 to 12 years old, and free age 6 and under; or $25 for the family.

Sandpoint High School hosts the Sandpoint Junior Miss Program at 6 p.m. This is a scholarship program for high school junior girls, and all proceeds from ticket sales go towards scholarships.
